’59 Junior Semi: Waterfall

To move the ’59 profile to a semi, I reshaped the lower horn to be symmetrical to the upper, which, interestingly, creates a sort of miniature 335 profile (was this how that shape came about?).

The body is fully chambered with a centre-block, made in a similar way to the Collings i35, and could be in Mahogany, Maple, or sycamore, (I’ve made one in Yew which was beautiful but a bit unstable). Free form F holes in the top which is a flat drop top, but could be carved. This one is flat top in waterfall Bubinga. Neck is flamed Rock Maple, fingerboard and headstock in Birdseye maple, Paua Fish hook inlay. Oil finish. two Bareknuckle Mules, ABM bridge.

I have also done this in a Jazz spec. with a single Kent Armstrong humbucker. Preferred tailpiece is the ABM 3025 (the jazz spec. below has a Graphtech Ghost system). Tuners are by Schertler. 25” scale.

Also one with a spalted maple bound top and yew body and fretboard. This has a 23rd fret body join (but only 22 frets!).
